A Ritual Walk

Unfortunately, I didn't get to do much celebrating of the Autumn Equinox ON the Equinox and the weekend didn't work out for it either.  So today I took the opportunity and did some autumn celebrating.  This included a ritual walk in the woods.

When I do ritual walks, I like to stop at certain appropriate intervals and say prayers and/or sprinkle offerings of lavender and rose petals on the land and open myself up to the Goddess' energy and give my gratitude.  Thing is, one never knows who is watching when one does this!  In Glastonbury, I guess I don't think about it as much, but in London, well, it's a bit of a different story.  

As I was walking along, I passed two people (a woman and a man) in conversation.  I didn't think too much about it.  I was about to take a turn into an apple orchard when I stopped, as I do, made some prayers and walked in.  After I walked in, the woman said, "Excuse me...."  

I stopped and turned around.  She was curious about my moon tattoo on my forehead.  She noticed me opening up to the energy of the land and asked me about my path.  We had a brief conversation about my being a Priestess of Avalon and how I was doing a ritual walk to connect with the Goddess in the land and and the season.  She seemed quite fascinated by it all.  

At the end of our conversation, she apologised if she disturbed me, that maybe most people wouldn't just walk up to someone and ask questions like that, but when she saw me she knew she had to speak to me.  The thing is though - I really didn't mind.  I took her hands and looked at her and thanked her for speaking to me as many people who are curious just stare instead.  

I like it when people feel they can approach me and start conversations.  I don't mind answering curious questions.  It's all part of the whole priestess gig really.  But today, it felt extra special to connect with this lady and maybe I've inspired her in some small way.  Thank You, Goddess, for the gift of connection and allowing Your light to shine through me.  It's been a special day today!
